Change Her World is a concept created by the parents of Claudia Bolle with the support of a group of dear friends for two purposes. First, to raise funds to cover the many out of pocket expenses associated with Claudia's diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Second, to raise awareness for Autism and the many impacts it has on families and society as a whole. Get the Flash Player to see this player. The concept behind Change Her World started with Claudia's initial diagnosis of Autism in August, 2007. Determined to learn all she could and somehow express her feelings about the journey the Bolle family was embarking on, Charlotte (Claudia's mother) created an advocacy video and posted it on a site to raise money for charity (whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com). The site allows videos to be posted and for each hit the video gets, a designated selected charity will receive a $1 donation. Through word of mouth and passing through the internet, Claudia's Change Her World video has received over 2.7 million hits. Although the number of hits far exceeded the funding dollars available, a substantial amount was raised for autism Speaks as a direct result of Claudia's video. This has resulted in requests to use the video for advocacy purposes all over the world. Since this success, the Bolle family has taken on several different advocacy fronts from creating several other videos, to pushing for legislation to mandate insurance coverage, as well as creating a better pathway for obtaining a proper diagnosis through Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. The next step is to begin raising funds in order to assist with the rising out of pocket costs associated with the many therapies Claudia has been receiving since her diagnosis. As we have volunteered to help with different charities and through our church, we’ve always wondered how our help really impacted the lives of others. Now that we’ve been on the other side of this and are the ones being helped, we have to say we’re truly humbled by the support, generosity and kindness displayed by all who have contributed and participated in this event. The event itself exceeded all expectations from the number of people in attendance, to the silent auction, the MC’s and phenomenal music to total amount of funds raised. In attendance we had life long friends, neighbors, co-workers, therapists, members of the Autism community and even strangers. Thank you so much for your participation! We could’ve never dreamed of the outcome. We are forever in debt to the group of amazing friends that have made up the Chang Her World Team. We will use their actions as inspiration and motivation to continue to Change Claudia’s World and advocate wherever we can.
